In the putting area, you can try out putters and hone your short game. There’ll also be putter demonstrations! Created in collaboration with Nordic Turf, Finland’s largest supplier of artificial golf turf, the putting green in the Putting Area is hugely popular – from golf centres to back gardens – and is suitable for golfers of all levels, from beginners to seasoned players.
The feel of the putting surface is just like a natural grass green in Finland in July, complete with its foregreens – it’s well worth a try!

Nordic Turf is a company founded and owned by Jarno Saure. The company has been building up its expertise in artificial turf for twenty years. Nordic Turf’s artificial turf is sourced from the Netherlands, and its installation for customers is a craft that requires skill and expertise.
“The pandemic led to a sharp rise in demand for artificial turf, but to ensure our excellent quality, we cannot hire just anyone to install our artificial turf. Our selling points are experience and quality, which guide everything we do. We only sell and install pitches that we would be happy to have in our own garden.”
Nordic Turf is the largest supplier of artificial turf for golf in Finland, and Saure explains that they have installed putting greens in almost all of Finland’s indoor golf centres and in hundreds of private gardens. Nordic Turf products can also be found on numerous golf courses in Finland, Sweden and Estonia.
According to Saure, the putting green at the golf fair felt just like a natural grass green in Finland in July. The feel of the green and the speed at which the ball rolls on the grass are described using the golfing term ‘stimp speed’. The speed of the putting green at the Golf Fair is 9 feet, which corresponds to the ball rolling 270 cm forward. The green’s stimp is measured using a cup, which is raised in the hand until its angle of inclination becomes steeper. At some point, the ball rolls out of the cup, after which the distance it rolls is measured. “This is a very traditional method of measurement,” notes Saure.
A foregreen – a synthetic turf mat with longer fibres – is usually installed around the putting green, which can be used for chipping. Often, chipping areas are also created around a home garden green, from which the ball is hit onto the green. The highlight of your home practice area is the hitting mat and net supplied by Nordic Turf, which allows you to practise longer shots. Nordic Turf Premium artificial turf hitting mats can be found in most Trackman simulators operating in Finland.
Nordin Turf’s expertise in putting greens is evident in the fact that the putting greens designed for customers, and the surface contours incorporated into them, are practical and well-suited to their surroundings. The edges of the putting greens are rounded and neat, allowing them to blend into the landscape and often making them difficult to distinguish from natural grass. According to Saure, 98 % of the customer feedback received by Nordin Turf is positive, and customers are left delighted, admiring their new putting greens once the installation team has left the site. Saure says he visits all installation sites himself, ensuring the company’s quality assurance is up to standard.
